Introducing the Year of the Rat Puppet in celebration of Chinese New Year! Initially, when I thought about designing a rat puppet, I conceived of kind of a stereotypical dirty, disheveled, nasty character. But when I looked at rats online, I realized that they are actually quite sweet looking. Year of the Rat Puppet is knit from the top down with a wool yarn and an eyelash-type yarn held together. He is then felted in a washing machine, with his eyes, whiskers and tail installed post-felting. Complete illustrated instructions are provided for knitting, felting and finishing the puppet.
