In August 2016 I attended a shadow knitting class and realized that while I like the effect, I do not like how the back looks, so I decided to try it in double knitting. This pattern is a recipe for combining shadow knitting and double knitting. I used DK weight yarn (5 balls of each color) as it was available in my stash, but this technique should work with any weight yarn with an adjustment of the needles and possibly the number of cast-on stitches. I have included instructions on how to combine these techniques to make a reversible scarf with a mirrored shadow knitting pattern on each side. You are free to use the pattern I supply or any other pattern you choose.
