Pattern Notes
This “You Leave Me Breathless” Knitted Cowl is inspired by the Futurama episode Love and Rocket, which aired around Valentine’s Day in 2002.
Fry is trying to find the perfect phrase on a heart candy and he notices Leela’s oxygen tank is low.
He passes out and she performs mouth-to-mouth and he coughs up a heart that reads:
“U LEAVE ME BREATHLESS.”
This episode always leaves me breathless (and crying!)
I couldn’t think of a better place to put this phrase than around my neck.
This yarn and pattern is super quick to work up and would make a great last-minute gift for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthday’s, …
The pattern requires knowledge of color changing when knitting.
The top and bottom of the pattern is designed to look like floating heart-shaped candies in space.
Knit all rows unless otherwise indicated.
All rows have 73 stitches.
I used black as a background color to make the scarf subtle when I wear it to work.
I would recommend a lighter background color if you intend to make a bolder statement.
It is knitted in the round on circular knitting needles from the bottom up.
To prevent curling and flipping, you will purl the edges and sew the casted-off end to the wrong side.
This will make the border look like a sideways tube or I-chord.
