CUFF DOWN SOCK
This is a cuff-down sock that uses basic methods to create a simple sock that you can add some unique design features to. I created the sock using a duplicate stitch and by using this method, you can add many different design elements and make it your own! Have fun with it and the sky is the limit!

This pattern uses a simple k1p1 ribbing, stockinette stitch leg and foot, a no-wrap simple heel and star/round toe. The extra design features could be added in using your desired colorwork method (stranded, intarsia, or duplicate stitch) I designed these socks to show off the micro striping in the yarn and to create a lovely backdrop for the semi-colon; and the YOU MATTER reminder on the toes. Skills Required/Techniques Used
• Knit & purl, slip stiches, cast on, pick up bar between stitches, knit 2 together, purl 2 together
• Increasing, decreasing, Inserting a simple no-wrap heel, Round/Star toe
• Working in the round -small circ.- can be done with DPNs, magic loop, 9- inch circulars, or with two circular needles (knitter preference), Experience with top-down sock knitting
• Adding color work design with stranded colorwork, intarsia, or Duplicate stitch (my preference for these socks)

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 4 colors of yarn
o Main color -variegated/micro stripes -Always Be Kind Yarn – You Matter; variegated (These socks used approximately 240 yards – size Medium)
o Color A -- Cuff and toe– Always Be Kind yarn – Blue Raspberry (approx. 50 yds)
o Color B -- heel – Always Be Kind yarn – Grape Soda (approx. 30 yds)
o Color C – words -- Always Be Kind yarn -- Glimmer clouds (approx. 15 yds)
• Base yarn is 70% Fine Super-wash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon, 10% Stellina; 420 yds per 100g skein
• Sample uses – Always Be Kind Yarn in You Matter; variegated colorway and other solids
• Substitutes- any fingering weight or sock yarn – in micro striping for main color to achieve the best background effect

Needles: 2.5 mm/US #1.5
o (Your choice of DPN, 9” circulars, 2 circulars, or long circular for magic loop to knit small circumference)
o Gauge – 9 stiches and 11 rows per inch (36 stitches and 44 rows over 4 inches) – ADJUST # if stitches or needle size to fit your gauge

Size – Women’s US 6/7 Small, 8/9 Medium, 10/11 Large (S/M/L) (9”/23cm Foot circ, 11”/28cm length)
Notions: Stitch markers – 2 removable for marking BOR, MOR and a yarn needle
