The Yountville Slouch is one of five patterns in Independent Fabrication, a collection of accessory patterns knit in small-batch yarns. The eBook is available on Ravelry, or you can purchase a print book + eBook bundle at our website, tightlyknitdesigns.com

A modern take on the classic alternating-cable stitch pattern, the Yountville Slouch staggers pairs of smaller cables for an even greater visual impact, with a just-slouchy- enough fit you’ll want to wear everywhere. The cables are deceptively simple to work, and would make a great first—or fiftieth!—cabled project. Thankfully, there’s a shade of Sincere Sheep’s beautiful, naturally-dyed Cormo Worsted for every occasion: let the cables grab the spotlight in a lighter shade, or choose a darker color for a subtler look.

Sizes
To fit S/M (M/L) adult heads; 22” / 56 cm (24” / 61 cm). Finished dimensions (unstretched, after blocking): 17” / 43 cm (18” / 46 cm) circumference; 9.5” / 23 cm tall.

Yarn
Sincere Sheep Cormo Worsted (3-ply, 100% Wyoming Cormo wool; 250 yards / 229 meters per 100 grams), 1 (1) skein. Sample knit in “Brocade.” Or, 220 yards / 200 meters of worsted-weight wool yarn.

Gauge
24 sts and 32 rounds per 4” / 10 cm in Twisted Taffy Cable Pattern, on larger needles.

Needles
16” / 40 cm circular needles in sizes US 5 / 3.75 mm and US 7 / 4.5 mm, and double-pointed needles in same sizes, or sizes needed to obtain gauge. Alternatively, you can use two circular needles or one circular needle 32”/ 80 cm or longer for magic loop. If doing the optional long-tail tubular cast on, I recommend a straight needle in the smaller size.

Notions
Cable needle (if desired), stitch markers (if desired), tapestry needle.

Skills Required
Cabling (with or without a cable needle), long-tail tubular cast on (optional), increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round.
