The story behind this pattern:

Travel

Travel, stories, and crafts are inextricably linked for me.

As a child, I took craft lessons with Miss Vera. During class, she
passionately told stories about her travels. She traveled the world:
hiking the Inca Trail in Peru, coming face to face with bears and
wolves in Canada, or kayaking on the Danube.

She passed her love of travel on to me. Even today, I love browsing
fabric markets and yarn shops while traveling. What I see and
experience finds its way into my stories and designs.

Just like Zanzibar.

I see the colors of the spices.
The beach at low and high tide.
The sea, the reef, and the setting sun.

But also the octopus fishermen at low tide.
The scooter riding past on the beach.
The kite in the sky.
The circus performers and the kitesurfers.

And of course, the palm trees.

I can see it all.
