The Zauberzopf sweater is knitted from the top down. It features a wide neckline and positive ease, allowing for growth, especially in baby sizes. To accommodate this, the sleeve cuffs are extra long and folded in half for the smaller sizes. In the children’s sizes, these “grow-along cuffs” are omitted.

The sweater is constructed using a raglan technique and is knitted in the round. For the children’s sizes, German short rows are used to shape the back for a better fit, which is not necessary in the baby sizes. The stitch pattern alternates between seed stitch and cables.
