Hat with a fixed cuff in a zebra pattern for DK yarn.

Five sizes: 52/54, 54/56, 56/58, 58/60, or 60/62.
These sizes correspond to standard adult hat sizes XS to XL.
XS may also fit teenagers.
The hat is suitable for beginners in stranded knitting; the floats have a maximum of 6 stitches, usually significantly less.

The most common knitting techniques are described and explained. Video tutorials explain two less popular methods.

Materials:

• You need DK Yarn in two contrasting colours.
• Gauge of 22 stitches by 27 rounds (per 4”/ 10cm) for colourwork in stockinette in the round after blocking.
• You will need up to 190m of the main colour and 75m of the contrast colour.

For the swatch, you’ll need another 75m – about 50 meters in the main colour and about 25 meters in the contrast colour (per piece). It’s the same swatch and chart you use for the Zebra Cowl, by the way. If you knit two of these, you’ll have matching wrist warmers.

What else do you need?

• For the cast-­on you will need either a cable system with stoppers or a stitch wire (available in craft stores in the knitting supplies section).
• A circular knitting needle in size US 3­-6 / 3­-4 mm for the solid coloured part and another one in US 3­-7 / 3.25­-4.25 for the colourwork, either 40’’­-50’’ / 100­-120 cm for Magic-Loop technique or 20’’ / 50 cm with short(!) needle tips.
• Round marker, 3 repeat markers (optional), ta­pestry needle and scissors.

Die Mütze ist für Anfängerinnen im zweifarbigen Stri­cken geeignet, die Abstände zwischen zwei Farben liegen bei maximal 6 Maschen, meistens deutlich dar­ unter.

Material:

• DK­Garn in zwei kontrastierenden Farben
• Ma­schenprobe von 22 Maschen auf 27 Runden auf 10 x 10 cm.
• Von der Hauptfarbe benötigst Du bis zu 190 m, von der Kontrastfarbe bis zu 75 m.

Für die Maschenprobe kommen noch mal ca. 75 m Verbrauch dazu – ca. 50 m Hauptfarbe und ca. 25 m Kontrastfarbe (pro Stück). Es ist übrigens dieselbe, die Du auch für den Zebra Cowl nutzt. Wenn Du zwei davon strickst, hast Du passende Handgelenkwärmer.

Was brauchst Du noch?

• Für den Anschlag benötigst Du entweder ein Seilsystem mit Stoppern oder ein Maschenhalterseil (gibts im Bastelladen beim Strickzubehör, engl. heißt es stitch wire),
• für den einfarbigen Teil der Mütze eine Rundstricknadel in Stärke 3‒4 mm und für den Musterteil eine zweite, eine halbe Nadelstärke höher, Stärke 3,25‒4,25, je nachdem, wie fest/locker Du strickst: entweder 100‒120 cm für Magic­Loop­Technik oder 50 cm und kurze (!) Nadelspitzen.
• Dann noch einen Run­denmarkierer und drei Rapportmarkierer als Zählhilfe, eine stumpfe Sticknadel zum Vernähen und eine Schere.
