Zee is a striped baby hat that cinches with a drawstring rather than ribbing, allowing the fit to be adjusted slightly as the baby grows. It can be knit either with fingering-weight yarn held double or with worsted-weight yarn.

Yarn: You will need approximately 150 yards each of two different fingering-weight yarns OR 75 yards each of two different worsted-weight yarns for best results.

Supplies:

  • US size 5 16” circular needle
  • 4 US size 5 double-pointed needles
  • 4 stitch markers
  • crochet hook suited to your chosen yarn (optional)
  • tapestry needle

Sizing: The finished circumference of the hat is approximately 18 inches, which will fit the average 12-month-old. The drawstring allows the hat to be cinched slightly to fit smaller heads.

Zee is the pattern for Week Eleven of Pattern a Week at Running Jack Knits.
