The Zenith Crochet Tote Bag is of my own design - it’s a simple rectangle that is neatly folded into a shape like the Knitted Japanese Tote Bag from Katie Kissel. The entire bag comes together with just two short hand-sewn seams.

Gauge is irrelevant as this bag works perfectly when the length of the rectangle is three times the width. Therefore the tote bag can be made smaller or larger as long as you adhere to this 3:1 proportion.

It features just one stitch - single crochet! Keyhole stitching on the sides allows for a variety of single handle styles. The standard and approximate 12” x 12” size (as spelled out in the pattern) is roomy enough for both projects and personal items.

The sample is worked up in Cascade Ultra Pima in off-white/natural. I used almost every bit of two skeins (not including the optional handle). Any DK or worsted weight yarn is appropriate with around a size I / 9 (5.5 mm) hook to create a dense and sturdy fabric.
