Even as I am one of those odd ducks that loves a good mattress seam, I realize that many people like the option of a top down seamless sweater. The Zephyr cardigan speaks to that audience, with a raglan sleeve and lace details in a wonderful and versatile heavy worsted-weight yarn.

What sets Zephyr apart is the approach to the raglan sleeve. Normally, when you work raglan shaping in a medium or heavier yarn, you end up with a lot of extra fabric bunching under the arms. To address that problem, the Zephyr includes short rows that add length to the top of the sleeve over the shoulder. Try it—it works!

Note: A new version of this pattern, called the Zephyr (Worsted) is now available on Ravelry. It is in a dk/worsted weight yarn; otherwise, the designs are just the same.
