Two undulating motifs zigzag up and down, creating a colorful mix in two colors of yarn. Contrast a smooth color-shifting yarn with a fuzzy solid for an irresistible mix of tones and textures. This pattern is easily sizable up or down depending on yarn weight and yardage.

I loved finding different types of yarns to pair with these lovely skeins of Spincycle Dyed In The Wool—fuzzy brushed alpaca, mohair silk, rustic farmhouse wool, and everything in between. I can’t wait to see which yarns you choose for yours.

If you’re feeling adventurous/lucky and enjoy playing “yarn chicken”, it may be possible to squeeze one extra repeat out of the yarn (I’ve played four times, and lost twice, so proceed at your own peril). At the original size given, it creates a lovely kerchief-sized triangle perfect for knotting at one’s neck. When making modifications, a general rule is to weigh your skeins before beginning, and keep an eye on using up half (or slightly less than half, to be safe) for the first half of the triangle.

– Swatch using both yarns, as row gauge may differ between the two. Row gauge may differ between
the yarns. One 24-row repeat of Lace pattern should meas approx 3.5” 9 cm. While row gauge is not critical in this project, it may affect final dimensions, as well as the amount of yardage required.
– When measuring row gauge in a shale pattern, mea- sure straight down from the center of a yarnover section, measuring from the top of wave to top of wave.
