A set of a toasty cowl and matching cuffs to keep out the chill. Stranded colourwork knitting in the round with a total of three colours, never more than two colours in one round. Knit according to the soothing rhythm of the sea. Thanks to the zigzags, the pattern is almost jogless. I-cord cast on and I-cord bind off provide a neat finishing. The knitting instructions are written and the colourwork patterns are charted.

GAUGE
Note that the comfy cowl is knit at a looser gauge than the sturdy cuffs:
Cowl - 22 sts x 28 rows = 10x10 cm (4”) in pattern, on needles 4 mm (US 6).
Cuffs - 33 sts x 34 rows = 10x10 cm (4”) in pattern, on needles 2.75 mm (US 2).
Cowl Height 29 cm (11.4”), circumference 64 cm (25”).
Cuffs Length 11 cm (4.3”), circumference 18 cm (7”).

YARN - Fingering weight yarn
COWL
• 100 m (110 yards) of a light colour as background colour I
• 100 m (110 yards) of a dark colour as background colour II
• 160 m (175 yards) of a medium colour as the contrast colour
CUFFS (pair)
50 m (55 yards) of each colour (background colour I, background colour II and a contrast colour).

SIZE & TECHNIQUES
Both patterns are written for one size, M, and can easily be adapted to different sizes by either changing the number of cast-on stitches or by knitting the cuffs with larger size needles. The pattern has a nifty trick to determine your size, just before closing to knit in the round.
Knitting techniques used:
Backward-loop cast on, grafting, knitting I-cord, I-cord bind off, I cord cast on, picking up stitches (from I-cord) and stranded colourwork knitting in the round.

Make sure to use version 1.1 of the pattern in which a typo on page 4 has been corrected: for the cuffs the 5-stitch repeat is worked 12 times across the round (NOT 6).
