You will need:
- 12 Ply Cotton yarn. I used Abbey Road Kung Fu Cotton in Beige, pink, yellow, green and orange.
I used 2.5 balls of beige, and a small amount from one ball of each other colour.
You can easily sub this out for 10ply or 8ply cotton, but be sure to drop your hook size to what your yarn recommends. This will also change the size of your bag quite significantly.

  • 5.5mm hook
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle
  • At least 8 stitch markers (or yarn scraps if you don’t have any)

For this bag you will create two identical side panels. You will then seam them together, and then create the handles.

My bag ended up being 35cm wide, and 38cm deep. The size of your bag may vary, especially if you are using different yarn/hook size, or due to your personal tension.
