I’ve been knitting a lot of shawls with garter tabs and m1R and m1L lately and so I decided to challenge myself to make a shawl in which all the increases were only worked with kfb and which was non-curling and still had a polished finish.

Well, I’ve been having a lot of fun with them - have already made 6 different ones and have plans for more, so I decided maybe the construction needed a name (like boomerang or NoCoBo), so I decided to call them ZipKnits - each one is slightly different because of the adjustments needed for each stitch, but they are based on the same principle - this is the basic model.

I whipped up the Bulky version in an evening .

but you can make it in any yarn and at your own pace.

good for beginner knitters, experienced knitters wanting a quick and easy restful knit, or for showing off a special yarn - no edges so all the focus is on the yarn.

For the striped sample I used a special 2-colour bind-off which I devised - looks a bit like i-cord, but much quicker to work and is actually a better match for the other edges and lays flat (details are included in the pattern)
