This is a rather simple ribbed beanie with a nice jaunty point to finish.

It’s really a one-size-fits-all adult beanie and if you aren’t a fan of a good solid brim, just knit fewer repeats before the shaping starts (about 5.5cm less).

I have used a very bulky yarn on 4mm needles so the hat is super-warm and cosy but it will also work well with any DK or Aran weight yarn and 4mm needles - just check the gauge to make sure it’ll work to approximately the same size.

I used 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss Paloma in Burnt Orange.

You’ll need a set of 5 DPNs, a stitch marker to mark the start of the round, a tapestry needle to finish and to weave in ends, a pair of scissors and a tape-measure.

It took me about 4 hours with a good Netflix TV series and plenty of cups of tea and I wasn’t particularly rushing.

The second time I ended up using a knitted cast on because I’m a bit pants at judging how much of a tail to leave for a long-tail cast on!
