The Decision Tree Collection celebrates texture and detail, with a hat and mitts that look far more intricate than they are to knit. The design begins with a 2x2 rib brim that melts seamlessly into the pattern stitch, as the “branches” of the Decision Tree emerge.

The hat features this striking transition in two sizes, S/M (19” x 8.5”) and L/XL (21” x 9.5”). It’s a cozy, polished piece that’s just as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.

The mitts carry the same branching stitch motif, written in seven sizes for a comfortable fit across teen and adult hands. They’re the perfect companion to the hat — practical, giftable, and engaging to make.

Both projects use simple twists in place of a cable needle, creating a richly textured fabric with surprising ease. Written and charted instructions are included, making the sequence easy to follow once established. With such a fun, memorable stitch pattern, you might find yourself making more than one set.
