About this guide When I first started knitting, I was afraid of charts. I would rather try to keep my place in an endless string of k and p than read these strange symbols that did not make sense to me.
But once I learned how to read the symbols and how to remember their meaning without having to check the key 20 times a row, I was hooked and have never looked back.
I often read on social media that knitters feel the same way I did. If you are one of them, limiting yourself to written patterns only, I’ve written this guide for you. As someone who had to be dragged into the world of charts kicking and screaming, let me promise you - it’s not as hard as you think and it will open a whole new world of patterns to you.
To get you started, five patterns are included in this guide.
October 14th: Knits and purls, How a chart is built, patterns for Belt Welt Cowl and Square Lattice Hat
October 21st: Cables, pattern for Pillars of Light Hat
October 28th: Lace, Other increases and decreases, pattern for Waving Tree Cellphone Case
November 4th: Other stitches, Estonian stitches, pattern for Splashes of Light Cowl
