Notes

Ribbing possesses a good deal of stretch, so make sure to pick a finished size at least 2” smaller than your actual head circumference.

After completing the crown decreases you might notice the top is a bit too gathered or slightly pointed. This is easily fixed by gently blocking or steaming the crown stitches to create a smoother surface. Take care that you don’t block the bottom 2” of knitting. Doing so will make the hat fit looser than intended. The hat shown in the photos has been gently steam blocked, just enough to create a smooth crown. This keeps the silhouette that of a lengthened beanie. With more vigorous blocking you can create a looser slouchy top.

If you’re careful about weaving in ends then this hat will be reversible!
