72 stitches on size 0 wooden double points for 4” 1x1 ribbing. Decrease one stitch right before starting pattern. Used size 1 for body of the sock but got a row gauge of 47 rows per 4 inches. This matches the pattern gauge of 12 rows per inch. However, that means the first half of the first diamond is 3 inches long. So the full diamond would be 6 inches long and the patterned part of the sock leg would be 12 inches. Knee socks?

Not sure what to do now. Doing some recharting…

Turns out the chart should be only one row of diamonds for the leg and one row for the foot. These are elongated diamonds and I didn’t think about that when I made the chart.

Used a round toe from the Civil War socks since Robert likes that better. On 70 stitches it works out to be K5 K2tog around. Then knit 6 rows plain. K4 K2tog around, then 5 rows plain, etc until K2 tog every other round. About 14 to 16 st at end are drawn together with thread through each stitch.

Finished first sock, now on to the second.
