January 2, 2013 - Starting with the sleeves this time since they were a pain in my orange version.
I don’t know much, but I DO know this is going to be the softest, most “ERMAHGERD TOUCH ME!” sweater of all time!
December 12, 2013 - Getting back to this sweater…FINALLY! Funny enough, I named this sweater before I knew the movie was coming out. A green sweater where the yarn color is named “Potion” and its pattern is named after a fairy tale (even if it’s not the correct one for the name)? It was pretty obvious to me.
I think I just need to work on a project in worsted after finishing a project in lace/fingering to help me appreciate how quickly thicker yarns can work up.
This is the softest yarn EVER. It also sheds like crazy. But SOFT! So I will deal.
I added the first picture today of the sleeves (about 1/3 finished) and I just have to mention the color is NOT accurate in the picture. It’s more of an evergreen color.
Since I’ve done one of these sweaters before, I made the adjustment to remove the “flare” from the sleeves, and also shortened them by about 12 rows since they won’t have the flare to go over my hands. I was just afraid that extra length would rub on everything and pill up, so decided it would be best to change it a bit.
December 18, 2013 - Finished the sleeves last night! SO GLAD that part is over! I remember when I did my orange one the sleeves felt like the worst part, while the body knit up fast. I also cast on the body and got about 3 rows in just to make sure that it was secured. Serious knitting on it starts tonight!
I read comments that the Sugarbunny felt more like a DK weight than worsted to other Ravelers, so I measured it against my previous sweater and added the 12 rows back in thinking that maybe my gauge made the sleeves a little shorter. But now I think it’s fine and I measured to the wrong point, so I have a feeling the sleeves are going to be both long and without the flare. We shall see.
January 3, 2014 -- I spent most of my Christmas vacation working on this sweater. I brought it with me on vacation to my boyfriend’s house, and initially planned to work on it on the plane, but the yarn was just too sheddy to work on it without feeling like I would be disturbing the other passengers with floating green bunnyfur all over the place. But I did a lot of work on it while visiting, and worked on my Clapotis on the plane rides home. I also came home with a bad case of the flu, so when I finally got to the point where I could actually knit again (but didn’t have the energy for much else) I put some more significant work on it.
As of now, the sleeves are attached and I’m working on the decreases. I have about a ball and a half left of yarn and may be playing yardage chicken, but I think I’ll be okay. It should take only maybe 2 more days to finish it, but right now I’m still trying to kick this flu and play catch-up on everything else that needs to be done.
January 4, 2014 - FINISHED!
When I did the orange one, I followed the directions carefully, but ended up with an odd number of stitches to graft together at the back of the neck: 19 on the right side, and 20 on the left. So I did one less row (one less p2together row) and it came out even. I’m not sure if that was necessary, but I preferred it that way.
This time I did a much better job at. Weaving in the ends and grafting the stitches under the arms, too. Very proud of that!
I’ll try to get better pictures when there’s more light, and maybe even with it on. I do think the weight on the yarn makes it a little tighter than the orange one, but it still fits fine.
I can’t wait to wear it to work on Monday!
