Worked Top Down In The Round
I inverted the instructions and began at the back shoulder, then increased for the bust line and set aside.
I picked up the sts at the CO edge, and made the front identical
Then I joined both sides and knit in the round to finish my 1st skein.
at this point the bust line was way too large (at least 20 cm positive ease) but the body size was just right.
And as I didn’t want a cropped top but feared to miss yarn I decided to finish the bust line first:
- picked-up the sts all around and made an i-cord with 3mm needle to tighten the over breast
- picked-up again the sts along the i-cord to make the top ruffle in the round in size 39
- and picked-up again the sts 2 rows under the i-cord to make the under ruffle in size 39 also, with the white yarn
after that I went on the body and finished at 35 cm from top with a 21 rounds folded stokinette hem
Top Ruffle
I used Left slanted lifted increases
stitch count is not accurate for 39 size (did not check other sizes)
➔ after first round of increases I should have had 231 and not 232 as it is said!
I added 1 increase to get 232
BUT
➔ after second round of increases you can only have 307 sts if you started with 231.
If you added 1 st like i did your final total is 309 and not 307.
I mistakenly made a surnumerous increase and ended up with 310 sts instead.
➔ after third round of increases I got 413 sts instead of 407
➔ after fourth round of increases I got 550 sts instead of 542.
As it is for the ruffle that’s ok, but I like precision
Top ruffle swallows 63 gr of yarn (177 m)
Under Ruffle
Under ruffle uses 80 gr (216 m) of white yarn, but i only made 9 rounds at the end
Made an i-cord
around the armhole because it was rolling like evil
Made a strap
because I need to wear bras …
13 sts picked up again on the top I-cord worked in linen st for 21 cm with 3mm needle and joined in the back with russian grafting
