Throughout the knitting (even though you know it’s going to become a duck since it’s a duck pattern) you really wonder what it’s going to turn out like!
I didn’t understand a thing I was doing, following Claire Garland’s very detailed instructions, constantly thinking, “it’s ugly, it’s so ugly.”
Once the knitting is finished, you end up with a completely shapeless gray thing, and it’s only when it comes to sewing that the miracle happens: this thing is really a duck!
Okay, it’s not very pretty, and since I missed a short row somewhere, it ends up with the color change dashes on the beak
and furthermore, it has one leg shorter than the other.
Oh, and what the hell!
It does the job very well; So soft and easy to grasp, I’m sure it will make a great baby toy!
Finally, hats off to the designer for this remarkably ingenious one-piece pattern.
I loved the process from start to finish!
