Notes

This is going to be long and slow! I made a slight error in the first lot of waves as the pattern was not all that clear on the increase row - ie. purl 8s should be done at each end of the pattern repeat not as stated: p8, (yo, p1) 8 times which I read as repeating the sequence from * to * resulting in far more stitches than needed. Luckily it was in black and only my first pattern repeat so I was able to hide by knitting 2 together where needed to bring back to the required 24 sts per pattern repeat.

OK, I admit, second mistake was mine not reading the needle packet properly! I thought I was knitting with 4mm when in fact they were marked as 3.25s! I dispute this though as on my handy needle measurer they did measure 3.5mm. I changed to 4 mm (120cm in length) and has made a big difference to the tension. Far easier to knit with too.

Slow knitting! this is a big job! I will knit the red and yellow ‘angora like’ yarn held double in random colour waves. I am making this in the traditional Australian Aboriginal flag colour pallete for a lovely friend of my daughter’s who lives in Eidsvold, where it actually gets quite cold in winter!
