Notes

My third original shawl design.

The goal with this design was to hide the center increases in the lace pattern and to create a shawl that showcases those hard to use hand-dyed yarns without detracting from the lace.

The shawl used just under 1 1/2 skeins of Malabrigo Silkpaca. The yarn knits up with nice pools of plum, orange and specks of chartreuse. It took me around six weeks to complete but much of that time was design oriented and i often found myself just staring at the way the colours came together. (I call this appreciating the yarn and the moment but it is perhaps not the most constructive use of time.)

The lace border is ostrich plume and the center panel was bassed on the same motif. It is a very simple motif but as I tend to read my knitting instead of the charts i found myself un-knitting portions because I’d been thrown off by the alternating rows of stockinette stitch. It might actually be easier for someone new to lace or those who counts stitches as they go along.
