The pattern knits up quickly (this took me a couple of days) and is easy enough to follow. The grid lines on the pattern were a little faint so I went over them in pen to make the chart easier to read. If I knit this again I will work a couple of extra rows of MC below the cats and less above (the size is perfect) so that there is more space between the bottom of the cats and the braid rim.

Considering there is no ribbed rim, this fits surprisingly well.

My god-daughter is turning 15 and getting harder to find the right gift for. My fingers are crossed that she’ll like this temple cat hat. It has cats, which she loves, but isn’t too cutesy or childish (I hope). I would wear it & she is known to wear a panda hat.

The colours were picked to match her current hair colour. The red Tanis yarn doesn’t photograph well but is beautiful with subtle shifts in colour. Cascade 220 is my go to hat yarn but it is not the softest. Pairing it with the Tanis makes for a softer interior against the forehead and gives it a nice squishiness. Because of the colour combination these cats have taken on a bit of a devilish appearance but that’s not necessarily bad.

By my calculation (I weighed the remaining yarn – it’s a new scale & I’m a dork) I used up only 37 grams of MC & 23 grams of CC which so one should easily get two if not three hats from the Cascade 220 and Tanis aran weight.
