Started knitting with 5.5 mm (US 9) needles as specified in pattern but lace was too loose and I was worried about scarf catching on too many things. Changed to 5 mm (8) which is upper limit for the yarn. Increased garter edging by 2 stitches from 8 to 10, for a wider edge.

2 Dec 2013 - have knit about 1.2 metres. Pattern suggests 1.4 metres. Will try it with a suit jacket to see if I need to knit any more. Expect it will stretch on wearing being quite an open pattern.

9 Dec 2013 - finished, washed and blocked. Seems to have grown during washing in eucalyptus wool mix and final length is 160cm. Lit wood fire to finish drying before mailing off to my sister in Brooklyn in time for Christmas - didn’t want it to go mouldy in the post.

Will have to weigh the remaining yarn on the electronic scales at work to check yardage used.
