Another one cast on!
My camera does not do justice to this gorgeous yarn. Deep mossy green with orange yellow heather. Stunning!

Helpful hints:

  1. Use a row counter. And markers after each pattern repeat.
  2. Enlarge chart and color code stitches. I use a magnet board and put arrows on the magnet pointing in the direction of knitting : point left on right side, point right in wrong side.
  3. Don’t forget the 14 edge stitches on each side! Page 2, column two bold print!
  4. Write down the pattern row number next to the row number. There are only 4 pattern rows. So for example, row 29 is pattern row 4, row 30 is pattern row 1, etc. see the photo of the list I made to keep track of rows 39 to 64 which is listed in the pattern as simply “ repeat rows 17 - 40.
  5. Row 67 states repeat 9 more rows. This means end at row 76, pattern row 4. Write that on your pattern and keep track with row counter and magnet board.
  6. After row79 it says repeat the last two rows 16 more times, which means 32 rows, to row 111. 79+32=111.
  7. As you knit each right side row, check your ssp and k2tog as you get to them, to make sure previous rows are done correctly and stitches lean in the correct direction. Undo any incorrect stitch, turn and reknit it to save frogging.
  8. Pattern repeat, (B,C,B or C,B,C)to save a bit of confusion, if a repeat ends in a knit stitch, the next repeat starts with a knit stitch. If it ends in a purl, the next repeat starts with a purl.
  9. At the front shoulder, I checked my gauge and and 6 yarn over holes are 2 inches. So size medium 7 1/4 inches is 19 to 20 yarn over holes. This makes it easier than trying to measure 7 1/4 inches with a tape measure, stretching out while I measure. Write the number of yarn over holes on your pattern every time you get to a measurement in inches. Right and back shoulder, back.
  10. right back sleeve says “with a new ball of yarn cast on to an empty needle until xx STS have been cast on.” Huh? For some reason I find this confusing. What’s an empty needle? Why do I need a new ball of yarn? I rewrote it as : on a separate needle, cast on xx sts “
  11. After casting on right back sleeve, and knitting right and wrong side rows, pattern says rep 2 more times, which means four more rows. Write it in your pattern.
  12. When you get to LEFT SHOULDER, top of p. 4, first line says to”work as for right front shoulder.” So immediatetly turn back to page 3 and work “RIGHT FRONT SHOULDER” another 7 1/4”, continue with RIGHT BACK SHOULDER “ ( size M), stop at “BACK”, then turn back to p4, and continue line 2, WS, which is a pattern row 4. Yes, believe it or not, I’m simplifying this! This is for the LEFT. Right front shoulder and right back shoulder are actually left front shoulder left back shoulder in this section.
  13. You do not rejoin the neck edge until you flip back to p4 line 2 , WS.
  14. When you finish the front and back sleeves and rejoin the neck edge, it helps to pin the sleeve together. Then you can figure out what you’re doing and it’s less confusing. See photo. You can also try it on.
  15. Last line p. 4 and first line p. 5 says repeat 2 more times, which means four more rows, 6 total.
