Knit for my hungry, little 3 year old caterpillar. Used this guide. Cast on 110 on US 1.5’s. K1p1 ribbing for 1”. Switched to US 3’s to knit hat. After 5 1/2”, decreased evenly (13-14 sts) and posted 8 markers with 13 stitches between each. Knit the next round. K last 2 sts tog. Every other row to create a rounded, fitted crown with a spiral decrease pattern. Once I had reduced to 11 stitches between markers, I switched to red yarn. Continued in this method until last 3 decrease round without k rounds between, so it would lie flat. Embroidered on the face. For antennas, I started with a 3 stitch icord after a few rounds, increased to 4 sts, then 5, then 6.
