24-08-2013:
I am using fingering yarn this time - I have a semi solid merino singles yarn from (now sadly defunct) 100Purewool, I hope it works out…
It is thicker than your average fingering weight, so I am knitting with 5 mm needles - still after that “lacy lace effect” ;)
27-08-2013:
Off the needles - phew!
I can honestly say that the worry whether I am going to get through the whole shawl with one ball of yarn is more exciting than the most thrilling thriller :) My hands were sweating, my heart was racing… So I am happy to say I finished knitting the shawl, and I even have a few yards spare!
No mods to the shawl except for the bind-off. I used the bind-off suggested in the later shawls (Grouch Geisha, Glamshells, etc).
Very quick, very easy, very effective and just beautiful. Soaking now, ready to be blocked later on, with photos hopefully tomorrow, if the weather is nice.
Happy to have finished it as the second entry for the Maiden Brooklyn summer KAL. I was just told that sadly this one does not qualify for the Maiden Brooklyn Summer KAL as I did not start it by the 5th of August. Nevermind … Still happy I did it :)
Final note
The design of this shawl is just awesome! I made no modifications but it gave me loads of ideas on how to use it in different yarn weights, how to enlarge it and play around with the different sections. I also get more and more the incentive to create my own shawls, and I find it less and less daunting :)
Thank you very much!
