Notes

Inspired by this project. But I will keep with the original pattern and use k2tog for the lace section.

Yarn:
The yarn is a very soft, slightly uneven 2 ply with a well balanced twist. It has an oatmeal base with yellow, orange, brown and blue flecks. Very gorgeous.

Bind-off:
I used a stretchy bind-off which works like this:
Set up: p1, yo, p1 – keep the three worked stitches on the right hand needle, and then work in the following manner: Slip the two right most stitches together over the most recently knit stitch.
Keep the remaining stitch on the right hand needle. Repeat the following sequence until the last stitch, then draw the yarn through the final stitch.
Bind-off courtesy of Marisa Hernandez - some of her beautiful patterns are freely available.

DIARY:

28-12-2013:
I am on my 9th repeat, which will be the last one before the lace edge. One ball of yarn got me through 8 repeats, so the shawl will be a little more than 100 grams.

29-12-2013:
Off the needles. I was amazed at the fact that the last repeat, the lace edge and binding off (32 rows) used up 50 grams of yarn, while I was using 100 grams for repeats 1 through 8!
In the end I had 400+ stitches on 80 cm circulars and the whole thing was getting a bit bulky. I could not make out the size until I cast off. It turned out quite big.

30-12-2013:
Blocked size is 82” (208 cm) wide and 39” (99 cm) deep, weighing 150 grams. It is absolutely gorgeous with all the tweedy little flecks - and also light and warm. Love it! ♥
