First 4 squares sewn together and blocked.

02-02-2018 -Next 4 Squares

Zig Zag. Week 5. Februarys’ Squares.
Used main colour and followed pattern as written for right size.

Rippled Chevron. Week 6.
Used 8 colours. Cast on and off using 3.75 mm needles and 4 mm needles for the rest.This gave me the 6” square.

Purl Twist. Week 7.
Main colour only. Cast on 42 stitches and knit the first 2 knit rows with 3.75 needles. Changed to 4 mm. needles for block. Last 2 rows with 3.75 needles. Cast off with 3 mm needles.Did 10 pattern repeats before the 3 knit rows.

Double Slip. Week 8.
Cast on with 3.75 mm needles. Block done on 4 mm needles.Cast off with 3.75 mm needles. Used 8 colours.

03-03-2018 - On to March Squares.

Parallelograms. Week 9.
Main colour only. Used 3.75 mm needles for this block. Cast off with 3 mm needles. Increased pattern by 10 stitches, did 8 repeats for 6 inch square.

Dotted Ladder. Week 10.
knitted to pattern. used 9 colours.

Honeycomb. Week 11.
After a false start working this one out,’knit into the stitch below’ I knitted all the repeats and stated needles as per pattern for the right size.

Eccentric Check. Week 12.
Followed pattern for right size.
Used 8 colours.

Squares 9 - 12 sewn together, washed and blocked. Will sew to the rest when dry.

31-03-2018 Sewing up of the First Section.

First double row of the Blankie sewn together and completed. Fairly happy so far although a few of the plain squares have stretched.

01-04-2018. Next Row. Aprils’ squares.

Moss Stitch Blocks. Week 13.
Followed the pattern except left out the last 2 pattern rows before the 3 knit rows.

Dovetail Stripes. Week 14.
Followed pattern for nine colours.

Ringlets. Week 15.
Made as stated except cast off with 3.75 mm needles.

Two by Two. Week 16.
Followed pattern for 8 colours.

May’s Squares.

Checked Rib. Week 17.
Cast on and off with 3.25 mm needle. square knitted on 3.75 mm needles. Main colour only.
Six repeats, then knitted to row 5 before cast off for 15 cm. length.

Beaded Stripes. Week 18.
Did this one all on 3.75 needles. Followed pattern for 7 colours instead of 6 for length. ended with 2 purl rows and cast off in purl after Row 2.

Slanting Scallops. Week 19.
Did this one in main colour with 11 repeats. All on 3.75 needles including cast off.

Russian Stitch. Week 20.
Did 7 repeats for 7 colours for right size. Knitted 2 rows in main colour before doing Sewn bind-off.

Junes’ Squares.

Long Rib Check. Week 21.
Cast on 34 sts instead of 38. Rest as pattern.

Dotted Moss Stitch. Week 22.
Used 7 colours for 15 cm square. Slighty too wide.

Rosette Stitch. Week 23.
An interesting stitch. Followed pattern for right size.
Last square of my main colour. Ran out!!

Three and One Check Week 24.
Followed pattern and 9 c0lours for right size.

Junes’ squares sewn together.

JULY’S SQUARES.

Little Pyramids. Week 25.
Did 27 sts instead of stated 36 as it was coming out too wide. Followed pattern for right size. Cast off with 4mm needle so it wouldn’t be too tight. This square is very stretchy.

Salt And Pepper Tweed. Week 26.
Followed pattern for 8 colours. 64 rows.

Peppercorn Stitch. Week 27.
Main colour only. Followed pattern for 9 repeats.

Staircase. Week 28.
Followed pattern for 8 colours, 64 rows for right length. cast off with 4 mm. needle.

Augusts’ Squares.

Lozenges. Week 29.
Main colour only. followed pattern.

Tiny Stars. Week 30.
Followed pattern for 7 colours for right size.

Double Twist. Week 31.
Main colour only. Did 22 repeats with 35 sts for right size. I like the reverse side.

Checked Basket Stitch.Week 32.
Followed pattern for 11 colour stripes.

31-08-2018 The Sewing up.

Daring to be different !!
Sewn up using the reverse side of “Double Twist”for the right side. Pulled in some of the side edges which were too wide/long with a running thread before sewing together.

06-09-2018 On to September.

Berry Stitch. Week 33.
Main colour only.
Cast on 36 sts.instead of 40 sts for correct width.
Did 5.2 repeats of pattern, then the 2 knit rows with 3.25 needles and cast off, for right length.

Windows. Week 34.
Followed pattern for 8 colours, used 3.75.mm needles throughout for right size. Perfect 15 cms.

Moss Stitch Rib. Week 35.
Main colour only. Did this one with #5 (3.75 mm.)needles as it was coming out too wide with the 4 mm. needles. Cast off with 3.25 mm. needles as stated. Knitted without row count till right length.

Tanbark. Week 36.
Followed pattern for 9 colours for right size.

06-01-2019. The next sewing.

Finally sewn Septembers squares together.

08-01-2019.. Octobers’ Squares.

Small Squares. Week 37.
Main colour only.
Followed pattern for 5 full repeats instead of 6, then to row 6 and 3 knit rows for right size.

Twice-Turned Check. Week 38.
Followed pattern for 8 colours instead of 9 for right
size. Don’t know if what I did is “twice-turned” for the
twisted stitch, but it still looks good, so I’m happy with
it.

Mini Cables. Week 39.
Main colour only.
Cast on 34 sts on 3.25 mm. needles. main pattern done
on size 3.75 mm needles. Did 10 repeats for perfect 15
cm square.

Knotted Strands. Week 40.
Cast on 34 sts instead of 38 sts and followed pattern for
8 colours. Omitted the last knit row in main colour as it
was already 15 cms.

Octobers Squares sewn together.

Novembers’ Squares.

Drop Stitch. Week 41.
Main Colour Only.
Followed pattern for 49 rows for right size. Accidentally
only dropped stitches down 1 row instead of 2.

Paintbox. Week 42.
Followed pattern for 9 colours.

Roman Stitch. Week 43.
Followed pattern for 11 repeats. Main colour only.

Rainbow Plaid. Week 44.
Used 35 stitches and 8 colours for right size.

Decembers’ Squares.

Diagonal Stripes Week 45.
Main Colour Only.
Used 29 stitches for right size.

Waves Week 46.
Followed pattern for 9 colours.

Quilted Lattice Week 47.
Main Colour Only.35 sts.#3 and #5 needles.

Soft Stripes Week 48.
Used 39 sts. 3.25 and 3.75 Needles used..

all squares now sewn on to up and connected to the main section.

11-11-25. WEEK 49. The Border

Using main colour…
knitting the border in strips and will sew on later as I was not happy with my efforts of knitting straight on to the border.

13-11-25
Both long edges knitted..256 ridges long.
Now doing the shorter sides…201 ridges long.

16-12-2025

Sewing the ridged strips on now.
Both long sides done and 1/2 way through one short side.All sewn on.
Have opted to leave it like this without the week 50 colour Borders. Quite happy that it is finally done.
