I can’t get into the B chart. For whatever reason, I am constantly needing to refer to the chart, even though it is very simple. I would have finished this weeks ago if not for that.

I was intending on making the larger size but I think I will be just short of my Caper Sock.

4/8 Finally made it to the colorwork. The colorwork is somewhat odd. It seems to be done in garter stitch, which is unusual in itself. The directions state to do it as a slip stitch pattern. That means you have to knit every row twice. 16 rows become 32. I didn’t see any compelling reason why the right side rows couldn’t be done stranded style to speed things up a bit. Now that I am half done the color work I am really wishing I had done it in stockinette instead.

15 grams of the green left over. I’m glad I didn’t try to go for the larger size. I wouldn’t have made it.

4/13 this was the second shawl in a row to horribly bleed when it was washed for blocking. The snowy white border turned mint green. Rit Color Remover saved the day. I initially just dipped the edges and was amazed. then I dipped a little deeper to get the colorwork. It appeared as if the Color remover was lightening the dark green, but not too terribly badly. When I rinsed it, it bled again. I dipped again. I rinsed it a second time, and it bled again. This time I dunked the whole thing and let it sit for one or two minutes. Success! I rinsed it really well and it came out beautifully white again. The green does look a bit lighter, maybe more kelly green than it was initially, but it still looks great. Disaster not quite averted but at least ameliorated.
