Oct 12, 2022: I have wanted to make this hat ever since I first saw it several years ago. Glad I finally got started on it.

Cast On: Started with 93 sts and cast on 184 sts (tubular CO) with US #0 (2mm) needles. I followed the pattern directions for the CO. I have done a couple of tubular cast ons in the past but not this one. The CO looks really nice.

I am using US #1 (2.25mm), 40” circular needles for the body. I was initially using 16” circulars but they were hurting my wrists a lot. Switching to the Addi 40” circulars and magic loop helped a lot. These are the original Addi turbos with a blunt tip.

Nov 27, 2022: Daniel likes to wear his hat above his ears. So I knit until the hat measured 8.25” before beginning the decreases.

Dec 26, 2025: Before blocking the hat was tight on Daniel’s head. I should not have blocked this hat on the glass head. The ribbing lost elasticity and became limp. I hope it still fits Daniel.
