May 30, 2023: I started these socks a few days back. GTCO 72 sts on 2.5mm needles. Changed to 2.0mm immediately and knit the socks on them.

Used reinforcing nylon yarn for the heel turn. Added stripes before the toe.

For the wedge toe, I knit 2 plain rows between the decrease rows for the first two sets of decreases. Then I decreased on every alternate row until 14 sts remained. Reduced to 12 sts on the next row. Kitchener close.

I intended these socks to fit my son’s foot (shoe size US 11.5 to 12; 11” long foot). Kinit Picks Stroll is a beautiful yarn. It is on the lighter side and does not have a lot of stretch. Knitting it up on US 0 needles yields a beautiful fabric but does not have any give.

For reasons that are beyond me, I chose to make a pair for my son’s fairly large feet on US#0 needlesm and 72 sts. That is the right number for my women’s medium feet, not a men’s large-ish. 76 - 80 sts would be more appropriate. So guess what, there was a struggle to pull this up my son’s ankle and and let’s just say that the socks lost the war.

I am happy to report that the socks have found happy feet (my brother-in-law’s) who was delighted with their coziness. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo.

Lesson learned: Be mindful of gauge, especially for a new (to you) yarn!
