My second pair from the MC book. Again, there is no chart - this time for the two different lace patterns. Is this a cunning plan to force us to write charts for ourselves and thus train us to be master designers and pattern writers? Hmmm. Anyway, I didn’t chart the first lace pattern as it is only a short repeat and two rows. The second is eight rows (though also a short repeat) so I charted it for myself again, instantly making it easier for me to knit.
I used the Old Norwegian CO so as to match purled rows in cuff lace. CO and working on 2.5mm. 2 circs to keep YOs away from ends of needles. After 4 repeats switched down to 2mm needles for heel flap. I finished the heel turn with a RS row, then went onto pick up the gusset stitches and knit round. I picked up by knitting into the back of the slipped stitch as Ann Budd demonstrates in the video with the book. Then I also twisted the stitches in the next row. The gusset joins look really good.
I decreased the gusset stitches down to 12 (not paying attention) so had to finagle a couple of stitches on the instep when I reached the toe. I knitted a total of 18 repeats of the lace pattern before starting the toe. Worked 8 rounds of stocking stitch before starting decreases.
I have worked these with much more negative ease than any of the other socks I have worked so far, and they are by far the most comfortable for me.
