TAAT on 100cm circular. Other Ravelers complaining this sock is too wide overall and in the heel. CO and increased to 64. Left out ribs on sides of cable panel (=4 stitches from instep) and subtracted 4 from sole to give 32 on instep and 32 on sole for foot, worked toe up Dutch heel to make heel narrower and instep higher, then reduced to 72 (as in pattern). Foot on 2mm, leg on 2.25mm. Used instructions from here for Dutch heel but made it on stitch counts in my notes
Started gusset increases on round 30 of chart, worked till 64 stitches on heel needle.
The pattern recommends a merino cashmere mix yarn. Mine contained a bit of silk and is quite slippery, in spite of the bit of mohair. This meant I had to use a cable needle - and there are many, many cables in this pattern. I lost count of the number of times I made a mistake and had to drop a cable down and work it up again. The cable panel is gorgeous, and pretty complex. So I would recommend you use a slightly “grippy” yarn. I also wouldn’t recommend this sock for a first attempt at TAAT. The tinking involved if your attention wanders slightly in that cable panel……
I made my side ribs 2/2 after the heel, simply because I’m not keen on 1/1 ribbing. But you really have to use 1/1 for the top of the cuff. I tried 2/2 and ripped it back. It looked awful coming out of the cable panels.
28.03.2016 Changed wedge toe. CO 28 sts for each sock and worked seam-free rounded toe up to 64 sts
08.04.2016 finished round13 on instep before starting heel turn
08.04.2016 Set up heel as 26-12-26 stitches, so 16 slip stitches for each side of sole band before turning heel=32 rows, = 44 stitches after pick up for heel flap=>high instep. After heel flap reduce by 12 above heel flap to give total of 72 for cuff.
08.04.2016 Round 14 completed on sock 1 instep. Switch to larger needles
16.04.2016 22 rounds ribbing. Sewn BO
