68 st alternate cable CO, 2/2 rib for 4cm. Reduce to 64 st on first round of MC. 8 pattern repeats, then round 1, start heel flap from Anne Budd’s pattern. After heel flap, pick up in MC, completing round 2 of pattern, shift one MC slip stitch column to instep needle, so instep begins and ends with slip stitch column each side. 33 stitches on instep. I always use the counts from Ann Budd’s book for heels. Decrease gusset stitches till 31 stitches left for sole. Balance stitches on instep and sole and use shaping from seam-free rounded toe (in reverse). Graft to finish.
