Notes

I’m a HUGE fan of Jenn’s designs and have been fortunate to test-knit a couple of her gorgeous yoke sweaters in the past - they truly are a dream to knit.

I’ve has this design in my queue for an age, and made the decision this was going to be ‘birthday knit to self’. The yoke detail is so pretty and feminine and so unlike anything out there. And, it’s knitted in fingering weight yarn - I preference for me.

colourway: I’ve wanted, for some time, a monochrome pullover. I’ve so much monochrome in my wardrobe - it seemed madness that I’ve mostly stuck with pales-inks and soft blues, in terms of my knit repertoire. Plus, I think black and white colourwork creates a truly striking garment. And, it goes with everything (mood and garment).

Wool: A huge fan of Drops and I love the Nord. It is really soft and light and very easy to work with. There is a smidgen of acrylic with the alpaca - but it’s a beautiful blend that gives the illusion of something a bit fancy. Plus, it seems to wash and age, really well. And, it is so affordable. It really is worth adding to your stash.

What I love: I Love the ‘inv-L increases’- I’ve avoided them in the past and stuck with my KFB increases, but as with all knitting techniques, it really is worth building on these and trying something new. Sometimes, this simply confirms that your ‘tried and tested’ technique, works best. But, occasionally, you learn something new that changes how you knit going forward - the invisible increase is such a technique.

I also love the wide neckline and counter to my usual preferences - there is a generous amount of ease with this design, which I think works beautifully. I’ve thus, made zero mods to the sizing - a bit unusual for me, I’m using nipping -n and aggressively shaping so I can almost slither into the garment.

Photos: well, I think I finished this garment way back in September, but I simply have not been photographing my knits lately. A combination of many things - new job, a focus elsewhere, a few life complications, a husband at work at weekends and a loss of Ravelry appetite. I’ve chosen possibly the dullest of days and the most unloved backdrop - but here I am, wearing my knits, as I would.

Perhaps better photos to come, when all the right ingredients come together…
