Well, the name of this project is sort of ‘lost’ when looking at the FO pics - a glorious, Spring day along the Wolds. Though, do not be deceived, the Weather in Lincolnshire has been so dire. I haven’t even noticed the rapeseed fields in bloom (they’ve been hidden by fog and rain!).
Anyhow, cast your mind back to Easter and when England was entirely shrouded in fog for the entire Easter break. We had arranged a week stay along the East Yorkshire Coast which coincided with the drizzle-mizzle-foggy blanket that enveloped England (and didn’t budge for an entire week
). We spent most of the week wondering the coastline (freezing and rather soggy) in search of hidden treasures (including sun beams and a mirage) - all efforts fruitless.
But, I did cast on Arwen during our stay and it was thus a rather productive week in that respect. Plus, all that fog and wild sea, was really quite romantic…though Husby didn’t quite notice the appeal of a rugged and whirling wind backdrop?!
Pattern: I’ve opted for the short sleeve version of this knit. The pattern provides instructions for both short and long versions. The yoke, wraps beautifully across the shoulders - attained by evenly spaced increased across a single row (6 increase sets in total). The lace detailing is absolutely gorgeous and easily done - chatted only. The body is boxy in shape and roomy in fit and together, create a perfectly light and airy Tee - to be worn in anticipation of Spring and Summer! Come on Sunshine!!!
Mods:
1) I’ve omitted the bobbles. I do love a bobble, but sometimes you reach bobble saturation and so I’ve bobbled-not.
** 2) Body:** the fit is boxy and this roomy. With this generous shaping, I wanted a slighly ‘cropped’ appearance. I’ve thus, knitted the hem so that it sits tjust above my hips ( 10” ) and then commenced only 1.5” of hem ribbing (not suggested 3.5”). I like how this sits. I imagine this would look great with some of my high waisted skirts.
3) I’ve also omitted any body increases post sleeve separation point. But ensured I had the right stitch count to work 2x2 ribbing.
4) Sleeves: I’ve worked 1” of ribbing in total.
Wool: my beloved Drops! I particularly like the Drops Nord, a blend of wool, alpaca and a little acrylic - which provides robustness. For those ‘acrylic-phobes’, you barely notice it within the blend and the fabric is so soft and light on skin. The colour is beautiful. I’d personally describe it as ‘cornflower’ and there is subtle variation in tone. Generally, the blend and shade is perfectly Spring/Summer appropriate and works so well with the design. In particular, the lace detailing is both neat and open. Drops delivers on all fronts, again!
Gauge: as usual, needle-up I go. I definitely wanted to attain as near to recommended gauge as possible, especially when working lace detailing. For info: I’ve worked with a 3.5mm for cuff/hem and the 4mm for body.
Overall. LOVE! This little Tee is both light but warm (thank you alpaca and wool), and splendidly pretty (thank you lace yoke). Plus, the pattern, as always, perfectly written and presented - thank you Isabell!
I’d like to knit a long sleeve version and perhaps longer in the body, for Autumn/Winter. Perhaps something with mohair too…But in the meantime, I shall just take pleasure in this version
