Notes

This yarn normally has a thread of lurex running through it. I dislike lurex as it is rather itchy to me, so in a fit of insanity, I pulled all the sparkles out of the yarn. If the yarn hadn’t been a gift this sweater would never had existed. It’s slightly too large, somewhat slouchy and party colored with too many buttons. I have a great affection for it.

I misread the directions and made the button holes too close together, but I didn’t want to frog with this yarn so I just went with it. That is what this sweater is really all about I think. The pattern wasn’t very well written and I really had to sort of guess about some things but it some how worked out.

Mod:
• 9 button holes instead of 5. I bought 8 buttons because I can’t count. I may or may not go buy more buttons. We’ll see. My enthusiasm for sewing on buttons is low as Eli’s numerous button-less coats could tell you. Ya know, if they could talk.
• I sloped the shoulders with short rows and did a 3 needle bind off instead of binding them off straight. A better fit and less seams with a boucle make me happy.
• I made the back a straight piece instead of increasing for the bust. My back is smaller than my front and sweaters fit better if I make the back a bit smaller than the front.
• I used a similarly colored sock yarn to seam. I wasn’t by any stretch if the imagination going to seam with boucle yarn.

I have been calling this my new ugly sweater in memoriam of my old ugly sweater which I wore the elbows out on. It was a mossy green boucle that was all pills and had been worn while painting a house. I looooooved it. It was hideous. Now it has a successor. :)
