Knitted two dusters with different yarns/gauge and in different sizes before deciding

1. I don’t like loose gauge, I prefer a compact, well defined fabric. Using three strands of fingering yarn. Gauge is spot on though.

2. The front part was wayy to small, cast on extra 3 sts per side (as for the Medium size).

3. Also knit 4 extra rows before starting shaping.

4. Knit in one piece (separating when starting shoulder shaping), I don’t see the point of having to sew when I can work it all at once.

5. I love pastels, but I just don’t wear them/don’t think they look good on me. I decided to just knit it in the colours that I do wear/fit well into my wardrobe.

Afterthoughts:

• Came out lovely. Happy about modifications. The body does grow a bit under the weight of the fringe.

• Body took exactly 45 grams of each of the 3 skeins used, therefore little less than 600 yards in total. Used the leftovers for the fringe.

• As for the fringe, I used 190 grams of mostly 4-ply and lace yarns (alpaca, baby wool, some baby merino, brushed alpaca, and kid-silk, they’re not all listed). 10 strands per clump, 53 clumps in total. I made the strands slightly longer so I could trim them.

• I was thinking of using reds and pinks to violets along with greens to recall flowers and their leaves, but the greens looked terribly, I took them out. Used about 20 shades in the end. No one lump is similar, I loved playing with the combinations and gradations. It’s a great stash-buster too, if you have the right leftovers!
