Using De rerum natura Ulysses

5th day and 15 rows in. Have already learned several new techniques and am enjoying every minute. Yarn feels quite rustic, but pleasant. Gauge was a teensy bit tight, but I decided close enough, so went ahead with the recommended needle size.

5 weeks in, reached 100th row and finished 2nd ball. About 2 inches below armholes. Button holes seem a little small and my stitches aren’t as even as I would like. Am trying to knit more loosely and purl tighter. Hoping that blocking will help a bit.

Finished the body last night. Am concerned it’s too short. I thought my gauge was pretty good, just a tiny bit too tight…. but seems to be way too short, hitting at midriff instead of hips. Hadn’t printed out the first sheet with the size details, so went ahead and dunked it in a bowl overnight. Am hoping I can stretch it a bit with blocking.

Blocking seemed to help. It’s the length it should be, but still hits me too high. Should measure myself next time. Have very long back.

The dog accidentally sat on my small circulars and broke the top off. Had to order a new one. Waiting!!! Darn, I was picking up speed on my first sleeve.

Because of Corona border controls, it took almost 2 months for my new needles to reach me!! Am knitting away like crazy on the first sleeve as the weather is weirdly chilly and I could actually wear the finished cardigan. Buttons arrived with needles, so I’m all set.

First sleeve done! Very motivated to dive into second one. Could be all done by end of month.

Got to first decrease on 2nd sleeve, despite being a busy day. Hopefully I can keep up the tempo and have my finished sweater soon!

Had hoped to be done by now, but too busy with work…. Halfway done with 2nd sleeve, then block and sew on buttons. Maybe next weekend!

Just 6 rows short of finish but hands are cramped from sleeve knitting and my poor calloused finger is hurting. Oh well, the end is in sight - I expect I can finish up the last rows and bind off evening after next. Then just block, sew on buttons and I can wear it!

Finished!!! Just need to weave in an end, fix a small gap under the arm, block it and sew on the buttons. Easy Peasy at the weekend. Am so pleased with the results and cannot wait to wear it. Mornings on my bike are quite chilly now. And while m progress was slow, I would have had it done in 3 months if not for the broken needle Corona shipping fiasco. Not too bad!

Used almost all of 4 skeins.

Blocked and buttons on!! Very pleased with results! This was my first sweater ever. Terrific pattern, very easy to follow. Have already ordered more Ulysses yarn for my next one.
