A few years ago, when the Gyllis pattern came out, I fell in love with the pattern, because of a non-conventional structure, the very easy to follow instruction, the ease of wearing the scarf. I made several scarves, I gifted some, but still have some.
After I made these scarves, I decided, that I would prefer a bigger one. So, I knitted rows 13-36 three times. I loved the size, I made two of them, but in my weak moments, I gifted both big ones, so I had none.
A couple of months ago the Yarnover truck came to town, and it was too tempting, so I bought one skein of A sparkly yarn made by Forbidden Woolery, Pride lace, color Munchkin, 825 yards ;-) I had no idea what I am going to make with this yarn.
Time and time again I looked at this yarn, but didn’t have the temptation to start something. But last month one day I just decided to make the bigger size Gyllis again. As the scarf grew, I knew that I want to make a different edge, so I started searching. It was hard to decide, because of the unusual shape of the body of the shawl. Finally, I found the “I heart lace shawl” pattern, and even though it had less rows of lace than I imagined, I decided to use this pattern. I added lots of beads, and I really liked the way it worked out.
It was at the end, when I realized how the two patterns’ transition worked out, I was stunned.
It was time to block it. Now I had my next surprise. OK, the name of the pattern says heart, but I didn’t expect to see the hearts in my shawl. They are beautiful!
I heart this shawl ;-)
