Mods:
- start in the middle of a stockinette section (instead of at the lace) to make grafting easier
- use different lace pattern with matching stitch count

Done! I bound off with a 3-needle-bind-off, which is a bit to tight. Well, I’m gonna wear that part in my neck anyway. And though I steamed it prior to seaming, it still curls, so I will block it and try to get it nice and flat.

Part 2: The Lengthening is doing well. I added a repeat of the medium sized lace panel and am now in the garter/stockinette part.
I measured it again, trying to take the blocking in account, and I figured that I have 37’’ right now, blocked, give or take an inch. I still need 12’’ to reach the the length given in the pattern.
And guess what is almost 12’’? Yup, a large lace panel +
garter/stockinette part. Therefore I think the plan is clear.
I have 40 grams of the yarn left, and if the math is right, I have knit 75%, so that will work out fine. No worries on that front.

I’m at 2/3 of the cowl. It looked a wee bit short, so I measured it.
Yup, 45 cm is actually short. I can comfortably wrap it around my neck once. I don’t think blocking will add that much length - I calculated the total length will be 67 cm before grafting.
Also, I have enough yarn to knit more, so I’ll just keep going until I either reach the given 120-125 cm (49’’) or I run out yarn. I’ll probably repeat the pattern once again.

A note on the pattern: I found it a bit confusing, also the lace part wasn’t charted. So I compiled a shorthand version of it, which suits my needs better.

I had to frog the first 25 rows of my cowl because I forgot a decrease in the chart (I copied it by hand) and everytime was like DAFUQ why have I 1 extra stitch?
Now the chart is correct. I listenend to another episode of my horror audio play and went past the frogging point. Yeah!
