this is a very floppy hat…..it can (and does) look good, depending on how you wear it. I think it is orginally meant to be worn like a “Blossom” hat but I personally like it worn up and cocked to the side, NOT curled up…
I wanted to add fishing line like another raveler’ mentioned (cassi), unfortunately I think I ran out, because I cannot for the life of me find it in my usual places!
I used an H (5.0) Bates hook for most of the project. At the gauge check, 13 rows, I was just a smidgen below pattern gauge. I used a G (4.0) for the last two rows for a tighter stitch---my thought was stiffer brim edge. In retrospect should have done both loops for ending three (instead of two) rows? Will update as I plan another hat :) And I may just get that line as I have lots o’ time on the next!
I used the pink -persimmon- in the cross stitch section (which I had no trouble with? thought I would..) and for the ending slip stitch. This gave a nice subtle effect on the edge…My MC yarn has flecks of melon (close to the persimmon from Caron), brown, and green.
Please do not mind my faces…I do not photo well and that is why this is the first time my mug has graced Ravelry :)
Wanted to mention that the hat can look like an oversized male prophylactic…..if you roll it in just a bit in the center it will negate that :)
I would consider this an oversized bucket hat, as yet another raveler (rogue1) mentioned.
