Notes

There is only one person who I would knit 15 1/2 ft of garter stitch for, and he knows it. The pattern is well-researched. Geek factor = high. The only reason to rate this “easy” rather than “piece of cake” is for the endurance and boredom factor.

My biggest recommendation: weave in the ends as you go. Do it every couple colour changes or something, or every foot… doesn’t really matter, but however you decide, just pick something and be diligent about it. No, really. Trust me on this.

Yarn use key:
Recommended # balls
# balls purchased
# balls used in the end (incl. tassles)

308 “Sunburst Gold” (yellow) 2 / 2 / 1
N94 “Bev’s Bear” (brown) 2 / 2 / 2
880 “Charcoal” (gray) 2 / 3 / 2
720 “Ash” (tan) 3 / 4 / 3
N46 “Red Fox” (red) 2 / 3 / 2
N18 “Plum Line (purple) 2 / 2 / 2
522 “Nervous Green” (green) 3 / 4 / 2

(Note: I weighed the second ball of yellow to be sure, and it seems that I did not break into it at all. However, I used every last bit of the first ball. I’d still recommend two balls to be safe, since whether you need it will depend on how long you make your tassles and a bazillion other things, probably up to and including the weather.)
