Update:
I finished making this basket yesterday and it turned out a little less than satisfactory. I’m not sure what to do different yet… but the my main complaint is the yarn. Lion Brands Fettuccini just varies too much in thickness. I don’t mind the random colors and patterns, but it can be hard to find enough yarn that looks nice together then finding enough that is of similar weight is a whole nutter issue.
I plan on making some of my own jersey yarn to see it that helps. I was also disappointed in how floppy it turned out. Outside to the cubby it loses form with is frustrating… it’s more of a bag than a basket.
Update:
I had to go to Walmart and pick up two more skeins of this yarn. I found lots of cute colors, but it’s always a bummer to have to cough up more money. I found two cute colors that I thought would go perfectly - and they do! But - the pink is driving me crazy! The thickness of it varies between 2” and 1/4” which is not good for this particular project! I’m thinking that I need to return it. I hate returning stuff… especially since I already started to crochet with it. Otherwise my pattern for it is working up quite nicely.

I got this Fettuccini yarn super cheap, because the JoAnn’s near my house was moving to a new location :) Score! It just moved down the street a little. I like the new store, it turned out nice, but it’s not any bigger - weird. I really wish I would have bought more, but I just didn’t know what I was going to do with it when I got it.
For my birthday I got somethings to make my craft room awesome - including a new IKEA Kallax shelf. The biggest one :D So my hubby and I put it together, but I just couldn’t cough up the moolah to buy baskets, then today I was feeling inspired! It was the perfect idea for this Fettuccini stuff! BTW this stuff is not easy to crochet with, be prepared for a work out!
I also recently got a new set of Jersey sheets (on sale from Walmart=super cheap) but our family doesn’t really use top sheets (I know we are weirdos) so I’m thinking I’ll make some more yarn and thus have the materials to make another basket, yay!
