Notes

So, I have a friend that may or may not have a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes, but she just started this crazy new diet, so I couldn’t get her cupcakes for Christmas. Instead I devised this pattern for her (and posted it in my shop for free of course). I’m knitting a simple garter st scarf out of ultra fluffy soft bulky weight yarn and sewing these little cuties to it.

My hope is that it will be festive and fun, and she can still have cupcakes be a part of her life - even on this crazy diet!

The cupcakes are super quick to make. They hardly take any yarn at all. Although, I did go out and buy the perfect chocolaty colored yarn I could have easily made one with scraps like the Strawberry cupcake featured on the pattern. I learned a new stitch for this pattern - it’s the reverse half double crochet! It’s totally cool, easy, and weird all at the same time. Just “Google” it and you should find way more tutorials than you would ever need. Anyway it was the perfect stitch to get that piped frosting look I was going for. It was a little tricky getting it in each stitch (because most tuts show skipping some between), but it gave it a nice poofyness (is that a word?).
