I made my dad the Gargantuan Melon hat as originally written and he immediately requested another just like it, same yarn, same pattern, just SIX INCHES LONGER.

The first took about a half-skein of this yarn, so I used the rest and bought another skein and toward the end I got really nervous. I ended up having just a ball about the size of a raquetball, which in a chunky yarn is nervous-making indeed. But it’s finished, will be blocked in the next couple of days (must scrub kitchen sink) and sent off to him to wear happily. He loved the first one, just wanted a fold-back brim.
